Citronelle
Santa Barbara
Executive chef Patrick Becquet has crafted a menu, style and ambiance that is second to none in Beautiful Santa Barbara. With sun kissed evening views out of their panoramic dinning area perched on the third floor atop the Historic Santa Barbara Inn, Citronelle is a treat for the eyes as well as the pallet. Elite appetizers shiitake Feuillet with garlic-Chardonnay sauce, and the truly magnificently prepared porcupine shrimp, one could be tempted and satisfied by any number of options to start. Topping the list however was the subtle yet flavorful escargot (1$9.00) as well as the cool and refreshing Avocado Gazpacho ($14.00). Do not make the mistake of skipping the appetizers, as they are without a doubt the most pleasant aspects of the meal here. The Entrées are like wise well prepared and delectable; with a broad selection spanning the culinary divide from a robust grilled Lamb to a light and flavorful Maine lobster with scallops en papillote. The seafood is tops with traditional California fresh preparation, and a deft understanding of seasoning. The Ahi Tuna ($24.00) is a treat and staff is well versed in paring one of Citronelle's more than 4,500 wines on site with your meal.
The atmosphere while dinning is justifiably focused on the wide ocean views that surround the dinning area. With a nearly perfect view from every table it's tough to go wrong. Often crowded, reservations are recommended. The early evening taps menu is a smart way to avoid the crowds and deserts and drinks are perfect after an evening stroll on the famous Santa Barbara beach and pier just steps away. Free valet parking is available with validation, and street parking is abundant if desired. Also, open on Sundays Citronelle is dedicated to serving both locals and visitors with class and style.
